The Art of Retirement
Jan Frodeno
The man who really needs no introduction.
Olympic champion. Three-time IRONMAN World Champion. World record holder. Hardly any other athlete has shaped the sport of triathlon quite like Jan Frodeno.
But what happens when a career like that comes to an end?
That’s when the fifth discipline begins – one that must be mastered just as thoroughly as everything that came before. It helps to meet someone who already knows this new terrain well: Jan Sibbersen
CHAPTER 01 – FISHING
The art of waiting
Nature & tranquillity. Fishing actually sounds quite nice.
46 minutes and 29 seconds later... not a single bite.
Perhaps fishing is a bit too quiet after all. And a bit too boring.
For many, it’s a relaxing pastime. For Jan, it was the longest 46 minutes of his retirement.
"Fishing? Seriously?"
CHAPTER 02 - Chess
The Game of Patience
Chess might be just the thing. Every move counts. Every decision needs careful thought – sounds like the sort of challenge Jan would enjoy.
But even chess is too easy, too boring.
The search continues.
"Too easy. Too boring"
CHAPTER 03 - Swimming
Oder doch nochmal schwimmen?
Counting endless laps, clocking up countless training kilometres – for decades, the water was part of Jan’s daily life.
But now he sees swimming from a different perspective. It’s not just about personal bests, counting laps or achieving the fastest possible speed.
It’s about the feeling of freedom, the sense of community and the joy of swimming.
Enjoy your swim.
Enjoy your swim
Enjoy your swim
Enjoy your swim
Enjoy your swim
Enjoy your swim
The END
Is this the comeback?
Certainly not.
But a new perspective. On everyday life, on a love of sport, on swimming.
Sometimes all it takes is a little nudge, the right kit and good company.
Enjoy your swim.
"Comeback? Hell no!"
